SEASONAL BALANCE SESSIONS:

SPRING & THE WOOD ELEMENT

A deeply nourishing workshop with acupuncturist Anne-Marie Fouche and Yoga teacher Louise Windsor integrating a unique blend of yoga, acupuncture and qigong meditation, all thoughtfully selected to enhance the benefical aspects of each other and support the energy of the season.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is the time of creating, cleansing, activity and movement, growth, and renewal, and is the season associated with the wood element - one of the five elements in Taoist philosophy.

After the inward focused stillness of Winter - the most yin time of the year - comes the dynamic expansion of the more yang natured Wood Element seen in the thousands of shoots, buds and leaves in plants that are exploding back into life. Now is the time of year when our own Wood Element also begins to expand.

Just like bare, dormant trees beginning to bud and blossom; we too can harness the power of spring to drop the old and usher in a fresh, beautiful new experience of health, mental clarity and emotional well-being.

It’s a great time to focus on releasing emotions (toxins) that are no longer relevant to us—specifically those rooted in anger, resentment, frustration, and lethargy.

THE LIVER & GALLBLADDER

In TCM Spring and the wood element is related to the Liver and Gallbladder organ systems.

The Liver is described as being in control of the smooth, calm flow and spreading of our Qi (Energy) throughout the whole body and mind. It wants us to expand to reach our fulfilment like a plant unfurling to greet the sun.

The Liver is related to creativity, ideas, planning and vision, and the gallbladder is related to motivation and getting things done. A perfect time to support these aspects of ourselves to start new projects and habits.

BOOST YANG & NOURISH YIN

Acupuncture, yoga and meditation are the perfect ways to support spring balance with a combination of movement, flow and stillness. The workshop aims to ease any feelings of depression, anxiety, low energy and general flatness and leave you feeling calm, energised, balanced and focused.
